Who needs an “RB1” anyway? Chase Edmonds was gearing up for his fourth season in the NFL when asked who may be the starting running back in Arizona, considering the team added former Pittsburgh Steeler James Conner.
“I hate the term RB1,” Edmonds said nearly 11 months ago.
Edmonds registered a career-high of 903 yards from scrimmage in just 12 games last season while Conner found the end zone for an eye-popping 18 touchdowns.
Since then, Edmonds has traded in his Cardinals red for aqua and orange, but it’s hard to imagine his thoughts on a true “lead” running back have changed.
Edmonds, who is entering his fifth year in the NFL, was one of the first signings the Miami Dolphins made in free agency. General Manager Chris Grier didn’t stop there, acquiring both Raheem Mostert to bolster a running back group that features Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed, who combined for more than 200 rushing attempts and nearly 800 yards on the ground in 2021. Cedrick Wilson Jr, Miami’s ONE TRUE SLOT Wide Receiver
Drafted in the 6th round of the 2018 NFL draft. (208-overall)
Signed a 3-year deal worth more than $22M, 12.75M guaranteed at signing
Last season, only Cooper Kupp, Davante Adams, and Tyreek Hill had more touchdown catches from the slot among receivers than Wilson’s six.

He has that DeVante Parker size but can work the slot like a technician.
Without question, he will be third on the Dolphins’ depth chart and the player most likely to start in the slot.

1 DAY AGO - Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports
The Miami Dolphins have spent the offseason retooling their roster, particularly when it comes to the offense. A major focal point for those changes was improving the offensive line, looking for better pass protection and more open running lanes in 2022 after a disappointing 2021. Signing tackle Terron Armstead and guard/center Connor Williams and creating competition for the other three starting positions appears to have the Miami offensive line headed in the right direction.
But does the fan base agree? Have the Dolphins done enough to keep quarterback Tua Tagovailoa upright and create space for running backs Chase Edmonds, Myles Gaskin, Sony Michel, and Raheem Mostert? In our recent SB Nation Reacts poll brought to us by DraftKings Sportsbook, we asked Dolphins fans if they are confident in the re-tooled offensive line. The fans are behind this version of Miami’s line.

Welcome to the Splash Zone, the quickest way to get your day started off right. We bring you a rundown of Miami Dolphins news from the last 24 hours.
The Miami Dolphins wasn’t that great last season for a variety of reasons. So the team decided it needed some changes and they made a big splash at wide receiver when they traded with the Kansas City Chiefs for Tyreek Hill. Hill brings game changing speed to an offense that needed to add more playmakers during this offseason. But before trading for Hill, the team added Cedrick Wilson Jr. who brings some versatility to the slot position. The Dolphins also made sure to bring back Mike Gesicki and Durham Smythe, to keep their tight end room together.

Madden 2023 is #good this year.
Now, I know I said this before. And it’s true; I get way too excited for this game every year — like a power stronger than Vecna takes over. But this time, it’s me. And this time, I put in the hours and can confirm. It’s good. Like, the Jets went 2-12 and fired Robert Salah in the first franchise I simmed, kinda good.
For my very, very early gameplay impressions, check out my article for Operation Sports.
These impressions, however, will focus primarily on the Miami Dolphins and how they played in this year’s game, how the players looked, and their X-factors — but I WILL NOT post ratings because they were clearly placeholders.
So, without further ado, here are my Miami Dolphins, Madden 23 Beta Impressions. Collapse

The Miami Dolphins running back room is going to look a little different this season. Duke Johnson and Phillip Lindsay are gone while Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed aren’t guaranteed roster spots. Over the offseason, the team made it a priority to add some new blood to the unit. It started off with the addition of Chase Edmonds, followed by Raheem Mostert and Sony Michel. We are potentially looking at the top-3 backs on the roster right there. Mike McDaniel plans to use a running back by committee approach, so all three of those guys could get equal amount of opportunities on any given gameday. New Miami Dolphins wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, has been causing quite a stir with his newly started podcast entitled, “It Needed to Be Said.” The first episode saw the All-Pro talent discuss the process that led to him leaving the Kansas City Chiefs, but the real headline-making comments came when he claimed that Tua Tagovailoa is a more accurate NFL quarterback than his former signal-caller, Patrick Mahomes. Plenty of people on Twitter and most of the national media had much to say about Hill’s opinion, but Hill doubled down by bringing his new QB, Tagovailoa, on the most recent episode of “It Needed to Be Said.”
Let’s take a look at what was discussed.
On wanting to leave the University of Alabama after his first day of conditioning:
“After [conditioning], I got on the phone and I told my dad, do you think USC still has an offer for me? I was ready to go. I’ve never experienced something like this with the amount of work.”

The Miami Dolphins made plenty of moves this offseason to improve their roster. The offense went through some major changes, but the defense looks to remain the same after the team managed to bring back most of their defensive free agents. But even though a pretty solid defense managed to keep all their players, PFF believes the Dolphins should look into adding Jamie Collins to the linebackers room. Collins would bring a veteran presence to a young Dolphins team.

This article was originally written for The Left Arm of God website on February 23rd, 2021, a short time after Tua Tagovailoa completed his rookie campaign. I tried to dissect the reasons why Miami’s QB1 was receiving so much backlash and hate despite leading his team to a winning record that year while recovering from a devastating hip injury. While Tua now has two professional season’s under his belt, his critics haven’t been silenced as of yet - and Tua admittedly hasn’t done quite enough to silence those doubters. Regardless, I am of the opinion that a lot of the hate spewed Tagovailoa’s way is a little over-the-top. So, while we try to wait-out the final month a half of this offseason, let’s revisit this article from just over 16 months ago and try and figure out why Tua Tagovailoa is such a polarizing figure in today’s NFL landscape.
